Dr. Alan W. Ruddiman

Dear Colleagues and Peers; Each year the members of our provincial medical association, Doctors of BC, have the opportunity and responsibility to elect our upcoming President-Elect. The office of the President brings with it the highest level of professional responsibility on behalf of all doctors in British Columbia.

Our peer and colleague Dr. Jane Bishop will serve and represent you, and our Association, with the utmost professionalism. I have no doubt that Dr. Bishop will serve diligently and with the utmost attention and commitment to all that the presidency will demand of her.

Jane brings with her a depth of clinical and leadership skills and abilities that perhaps are tough to duplicate. Her clinical career has bridged both family medicine and specialized care. As a GP Anaesthesiologist Jane has, over decades of hard work and dedication, developed deep insight and understanding of not only the challenges that exist in providing clinical care in the community, but also in clinical services and in the OR in our hospitals.

Jane’s comprehensive resume speaks for itself. I have had the pleasure of working with and alongside our colleague, and now my friend, Dr. Jane Bishop across several Doctors of BC committees and at the Joint Collaborative Committees (JCCs), particularly the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues at which she has served six years. Jane is a deep thinker, can readily contribute to and help build consensus, and is not afraid to take a determined stand when needed. Please join me in rallying our efforts to elect Dr. Jane Bishop as President-Elect.
